It has been a year since my team won the TOBY award at 6100 Wilshire.
This note is a bit over due, but I am so happy to let you know that I don’t believe I could have gotten 6100 together, in enough time to capture the win.
As described on the BOMAGLA website:
“The Outstanding Building of the year “TOBY” Awards Program has been identified as the most prestigious of its kind in the commercial real estate industry. It recognizes quality and awards excellence in the daily management of the office buildings. Only winning properties on the local level are asked to submit a portfolio to the regional level of competition.
Involvement in this program has nearly tripled from its inception 26 years ago and has the participation of a wide group of BOMA members. BOMA/GLA is proud to report that three of our six of our properties reached the international level in 2012. TOBY has drawn attention to hundreds of office buildings across the United States and Canada, and to the owners, managers and architects who conceive, operate and design them.”
As you know, the task of vying for the TOBY’s is not without hard work. There are standards that have to be met. And to get there, you need a great team.
Our janitorial service at 6100 Wilshire, prior to September 1, 2012, seemed to decline and I could not seem to make the changes I needed, happen. As a result, I had to change our janitorial services provider.
Lucky for me and the building, I switched to Advance Building Maintenance and we took off! Under your management style and practices, the team seemed to finally move in the right direction. Advance started on September 1, 2012 and with our tour for the TOBY’s a couple weeks away, we had a lot of work to do. Both the day and night crew stepped up to the challenge!
We chose the path the TOBY judges would take and were able to focus our energies to specific areas, and as a result, we literally sparkled!
I’ve attached some photos of the team, but I should also have one from the awards show, sent to me by the photographer. I’ll look for that and send it under separate cover.
In addition, I would like to thank you for your generous donations (a men’s and a women’s leather Harley jacket) in 2012 and 2013, to BOMA’s annual Clambake and Summer Social event, held at the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey. I received the email below from last year’s winner, Amy Martin. She was so excited when she won the jacket, seemingly made for her! It was also her birthday that day (July 12) so it was extra sweet! She also included some photos wearing her prize which I just had to pass along.
Thanks so much for having such a great company of hard workers! I love you guys!
